Keep the calendar in line with the rest of the front range

If all front range schools had a start after labor day, I'd be all for it. High school sports in Colorado are set up by division and league, not by county. Sports practices and games would still start in early August, as scheduled. BVSD athletes will be out there, practicing and playing games. BVSD would need to make special provisions to give athletes access to lockers and equipment while the school is still closed (costing the district $$$). Field maintainence would have to start well before the school opens as well, to maintain safe playing surfaces for our athletes. The student body will be absent, taking away the joy and pride student athletes get from playing in front of their peers. The first football games would be played during the summer break. Football and all high school sports are a valuable part of the high school experience. Student athletes learn how to manage their time while representing their school in a positive way (and as a whole have higher GPAs). Students feel pride in their school as they support their friends. Until Colorado as a state decides to move the calendar back, we need to keep it as it is
